RE: My 6.0L gasser doesn't seem to be up for the task

Have you thought about a supercharger?
I have a 2002 extended cab 4X4 with a 6.0 and I pull a 4 horse trailer with a 10 foot living quarters. The trailer empty weighs 8,220lbs loaded with 4 horses or a Jeep, they weigh the same, just a little water, food and stuff it tops out at around 11,500lbs.
I put a ProCharger supercharger on the truck and it tows it well. My tranny temp stays around 200, where the truck has always run. I only had one problem, I got fuel with alcohol in it and the engine started to "lean burn" and that heated to engine to 230 and the tranny to 210 on I25 from Denver to Colorado Springs, it was over 100 degrees outside. I put 100% gasoline in and the truck pulled over mountains without overheating. Got more alcohol blened fuel and the thing ran hot going down hill.
Towing from Ohio to Colorado I got 10mpg but never went too much faster than 70mph.

RE: Trucks with lift kits

Lifted trucks normally have larger tiers. Larger tires can reduce the trucks ability to tow heavy loads. Lifted trucks must also push through more air and thus have greater drag.
How much lager than stock is the tire size? A size or two is no big deal if it has 38's or 40's it may not tow well.

RE: Need advice for 2500hd!!

On the Chevy 2500HD with a 6.0 gas, speed is a mileage killer. If you go over 60MPH for any length of time the mileage drops. When I cruise over 75MPH my truck will get around 9MPG. If I can keep it at 55MPH it will get 16MPG in the rolling hills of southern Ohio with the AC on. Go slow and your mileage will come back up. At 70MPH you are cranking 2500RPM and just sucking fuel.
I have a 2002 2500HD extended cab 4X4 6.0 gas with a ProCharger Supercharger making about 450HP. I can pull a lot and go real fast but doing either costs lots of gas.
Good luck, cruise control is your friend just like slow speeds.

RE: Durango Co. trails

There is not much in Durango, but go north on 550 to Silverton and there are trails in every dirtection. You can buy maps in Silverton of all the trails in the area.

RE: Can a lifted jeep fit into a Weekend Warrior?

I looked at Weekend Warriors a few years back and the rear bed was only 6'4" and my Jeep is 6'7" tall. Also the rear ramp could not hold the weight of my CJ-5 all at once, the ramp is longer than my wheel base.
I went with a horse trailer, better build quality and does double duty.
